Services Provided

Approximately 2,833 employees, their families and retires have access to the services of the ARS.

The CVCCS provides:

ASSESSMENT: A complete assessment is provided to each new client, including the person's concerns and understanding of the problem and a review of critical factors in the development of the issue.  The client is an integral part of the planning process.  The client and counsellor, together, agree upon the next steps to be taken and plans are made to carry out the steps.

SHORT-TERM COUNSELLING:  Unlimited appointments are offered to all clients.  Our qualified staff offer counselling in the following areas:

ü Parenting

ü Family concerns

ü Emotional well-being

ü Addiction and recovery

ü Improving relationships

ü Retirement planning

ü Health and wellness

ü Work productivity

ü Stress management

ü Financial planning

ü Everyday issues

ü Community referrals

SPECIFIC OUTSIDE REFERRALS: One of our priorities is to maintain contacts in the community for specific referrals.  Referrals may be made for the following issues:  psychiatric assessment, management of medications, residential treatment for addiction, personal development seminars, self-help groups and resources as individually required.  Any costs associated with such referrals are entirely the responsibility of the individual.

CASE MANAGEMENT: Whether through direct counselling or referral to other agencies, CVCCS counsellors follow the client's progress to ensure thorough and effective service is being received.

The ARS staff are the primary case manager(s) for their clients and assist them in obtaining the best available care. The ARS will provide short-term counselling when appropriate; however, it is not the intention of the CVCCS to duplicate services that are currently offered elsewhere in the community. To help ensure lasting success, the ARS provides follow-up counselling and support.

CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFING:

A critical incident is any situation faced by an organization that causes a strong emotional reaction from employees.  Our trained CISD team works to restore group cohesiveness, reduces negative consequences and offers continuing assistance, accelerating the normal recovery process.

EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS: The staff at CVCCS are prepared to present and coordinate educational workshops on workplace issues such as:  EFAP representative training, thriving in times of change, turning stress into success, team building and other subjects as requested.

The CVCCS has a comprehensive audio/visual library of prevention and intervention materials, which are available to employees, families, retirees and the workplaces.
